Float Life vs. Temperature

The operating temperature of batteries can have a large affect on their float life. For each increase of 10degrees celcius, float life will decrease by a half. For example, if the temperature rises from the recommednded operating temperature of +25degrees C to +45 degrees C, the expected life of the battery will decrease from 7 to 2 years.

Cycle Life vs. Depth of Discharge

One factor which influences the cylce life of a battery is the depth-of-discharge (DOD). DOD is expressed as a percentage of rated capacity delivered during discharge. For example if a 100ah battery delivers 10Ah, the DOD would be 10%. As the DOD per cycle increases, the cycle life of the battery will decrease. The following chart can be used to estimate the cycle life of a Blue star Technology battery if the DOD per cycle is known.

Partial State of Charge PSOC

PSOC stands for Partial State of Charge. Most standard batteries are not PSOC capable and require full recharge after each discharge to achieve long life. Performing a full recharge of a battery takes a significant amount of time. A PSOC compatible battery does not require a full recharge every cycle and is therefore much faster and easier to recharge.
